Solar Power Battery

The news is filled with more and more stories of the innovations in renewable energy – power from wind, water and the sun.  This news also brings news of change.  People are naturally resistant to change.  It will be years, if not decades, before there is a complete conversion from relying on fossil fuels to relying on renewable sources of energy.  A solar power battery can help smooth this transition.

Have It Both Ways

There are many current gizmos on the market and in your home that rely on some sort of battery – cars, tools and electronics, for example.  Have you ever stopped to think how many batteries you go through a year?  And when those batteries are dead, we usually throw them away.  They’re generally dumped in the ground or ocean and leak dangerous chemicals.  They use up space in landfills.

We can change this by switching to a solar power battery.  They can not only help with immediate energy use, but can store energy for nights or rainy days.  You can choose between a solar power battery charger to revive rechargeable batteries already on the market – or a solar power battery bank, in which solar panels are fitted to generators or car batteries to help power your home.  More and more, these large heavy batteries are getting smaller and more efficient.

Amps And Watts

First, find out how many amps you need.  Are you running an RV, or recharging your cell phone?  Solar energy is usually measured in watts.  Its 15 watts to one amp.  Find out how fast the battery converts sunlight to amps.  A typical car battery needs about a week to fully recharge.  It's going to be a long time before there is a reliable solar power battery for your car on the market, but research in Japan is promising.

Changing the world takes patience.  You can purchase an entire solar power battery bank system, which is expensive, or purchase things bit by bit.  There are also smaller, flexible solar panels you can roll up and take with you.  These are much better and more economical for powering up cell phones, GPS units and laptops.  There are flexible solar panel mats available in camping and boating supply shops.

A solar energy battery can help you gradually get used to converting to renewable energy while waiting for the inevitable conversion to renewable energy.  And you can keep some of your toys, too.
